Courses:
Professor Gilmanov teaches Introduction to Environmental Science (EnvM 275) each fall semester and Advanced Ecology/Modelling (Bio 497/597) each spring semester.
In the spring he also teaches Integrated Natural Resource Management (ABS 475) together with Professors Scalet, Kronberg and Smolik.
Research Activities:
His research activity is in the field of mathematical modelling of carbon cycling and sequestration in grassland, shrubland and wetland ecosystems with grants from USDA Agricultural Research Service, USAID Global Livestock Collaborative Support Program, US Geological Service, and NSF EPSCoR.
In cooperation with colleagues at the Department of Biology and Microbiology, Dr. Gilmanov is working to introduce methods of mathematical modeling, bioinformatics and computer simulation into other courses offered at the department, using the Mathematica and Stella software packages as basic research and teaching tools.
