Research Areas:
Mechanisms of mammalian gene expression and gene regulation within hair follicle pigment cells, reproductive cells, lymphocytes, and other tissues of mutant mice, especially the lethal yellow mouse (Ay/a) of the agouti locus.

Genetic regulation of fertility, obesity, metabolic rate, and other components of energy homeostasis in mice and livestock (pigs and cattle).

Genetics and physiology of the interaction between melanocortin hormones (ACTH, MSH), their antagonists like agouti protein, and their cell-surface receptors (melanocortin receptors).

Isolation, sequencing, and characterization of energy homeostasis genes in mice and livestock (pigs and cattle).
