Background: The SDSU Census Data / Rural Life Center provides South Dakotans with federal, state, and local population information concerning family, education, government, agriculture, business, and employment. For detailed information click here   .The Data center was established in 1981 through a joint agreement between the Census Bureau and the state of South Dakota. In return for receiving publications and cd-roms from the Census Bureau, the Data Center assists data users in locating the information they need. Objectives: 1. Provide public with Census Bureau and Rural Life information. 2. Provide research assistance to data users. 3. Prepare indicators of the socio-demographic characteristics of the state and local areas. 4. Analyze rural trends. Requesting Information: Businesses, organizations, private and public agencies, and individuals are encouraged to use the services of the Census Data / Rural Life Center. Most requests can be handled by phone with support material following in the mail. This service is free to South Dakotans, although there may be a minimum charge for the costs of materials and publications provided.
