What does it take to be a nurse? The answer isn't just a white hat and a stethoscope. It isn't only understanding and compassion or a nursing degree either. It's more. It's the ability to think quickly and clearly in an emergency. The ability to evaluate a situation, determine the best course of action and take charge. And that's what ROTC is uniquely qualified to teach. As an ROTC nursing student, you'll be able to combine college electives in military science and an invaluable nurse summer training experience with your regular nursing program. You will develop your professional and leadership skills while learning about yourself and what you can accomplish. Several programs of study are available, for both the aspiring and current nursing student. In addition to this, scholarships are offered to both high school students and students currently pursuing a degree in nursing. For more information on ROTC Nursing, or any other ROTC programs at SDSU, feel free to call us at 605.688.6151 or email us at Garnet.Wosje@sdstate.edu

SDSU COLLEGE OF NURSING

South Dakota State University has a long and proud history of producing Nurses for the United States Army. On 3 June 1957, Second Lieutenant Delores M. Gleich, an honor graduate of South Dakota State, was one of the first two participants of the Army Nurse Program to receive a commission in the Army Nurse Corps Reserve and report for a two-year tour of active duty.
