jpgMusic Facilities
The music department uses four main facilities to achieve its objectives; Lincoln Music Hall, the newly built Performing Arts Center, Pugsley Center, and the Hilton M. Briggs Library.

Lincoln Music Hall
Lincoln Music Hall (LMH) is the home of faculty offices, department administration, theory, literature, and pedagogy classrooms, practice rooms, and the choral ensemble rehearsal space. LMH’s Peterson Recital Hall is the venue for most student and faculty recitals, holds up to four hundred, and is home to a new Steinway grand piano.

The Schultz Reception Lounge is primarily used for receptions following recitals, but is also used for meetings, and as a study room. Recent improvements to Lincoln Music Hall include the addition to a listening facility, an opera listening room, and a computer assisted instructional lab.

Performing Arts Center
Funded by a unique partnership between SDSU, the city of Brookings, and private donors, the state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center on the campus of SDSU is used for large ensemble, Brookings Chamber Music Society, and other special departmental performances. The Larson Memorial Concert Hall is a beautiful 1,000-seat hall featuring custom acoustics which can be adjusted to the needs of all groups performing there. It is fully equipped with its own percussion equipment, risers, acoustical shell, professional sound and recording equipment, and a Fazioli Concert Grand Piano.

Take a virtual tour of this excellent facility by visiting the Performing Arts Center website.

Pugsley Center
The Pugsley Center is located immediately south of Lincoln Music Hall. The Christy Ballroom in the Pugsley Center is the location for band, jazz and orchestral ensemble rehearsals.

Hilton M. Briggs Library
Music texts, periodicals, and reference materials are located in the Hilton M. Briggs Library.
