FATIH BENZER Dr. Fatih Benzer received his Masters degree in studio arts with an emphasis in painting from California State University. Assistant Professor Benzer received his Ed.D in Art Education from Arizona State University. His dissertation work has mainly focused on the theory and practice of Discipline-Based Art Education (DBAE) in secondary education. He has conducted qualitative researches involving cultural policies, multicultural issues in art education, and the use of Internet resources in art education.
Dr. Benzer participated in number of national and international conferences such as the International Society Through Education in Arts (INSEA) Congress, Sweden; the National Art Education Association (NAEA) Conference, Los Angeles, CA; and the United States Society for Education through Art (USSEA) Conference, Phoenix, AZ.
National and international art exhibitions in which he has participated include: TRT (Turkish Radio Television) Juried Painting Show, Istanbul, Turkey; Printmaking Show, Janet Turner Gallery, Chico, CA; Painting Show, Taylor Gallery, CA; Painting Show, Third Floor Art Gallery, Chico, CA; The State Juried Painting and Sculpture Show, Ankara, Turkey.
Prior to SDSU, Assistant Professor Benzer taught at Mustafa Kemal University, Turkey. Currently, he teaches such courses as Drawing I, II, Figure Drawing, and Painting. He also serves as academic advisor of Art Education students in Department of Visual Arts, SDSU.
His memberships to professional associations include NAEA (National Art Education Association), AERA (American Educational Research Association), and INSEA (International Society for Education through Art).
