Each March, the Women's Studies Program sponsors programming designed to educate, entertain and enlighten women about a wide variety of issues. This programming is sponsored in part by the Quest for Equity fund. Provost Carol Peterson established this fund to assist women on campus. The aim of Quest is to help women understand national and international issues of importance and to help them change their lives in positive ways.
The Women's Studies Program offers a variety of lectures and presentations each March, along with at least one performance event. The Women in History class produces informational showcases which are displayed in Briggs Library, and occasionally in other on or off campus locations during the month of March.
Finally, the Women of Distinction Tea and Award Ceremony is held in March each year. This event honors campus women from four basic categories: students, teachers, administrators and career service employees. All award winners are nominated by their peers or their professors. The Women's Studies Committee selects the winners based on letter written to explain why and how these women have made an important contribution to the lives and circumstances of others on the SDSU campus.
For more information on these events, see the link to the March 2004 schedule of events, or call Dr. April Brooks at 688-6042.
