Radiation Safety at SDSU

SDSU's radiation safety program is intended to train faculty, laboratory technicians and students to safely use radioactive materials in their research or teaching.

All of SDSU's use of radioactive materials is under the authority of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. SDSU has two licenses covering the use of these materials.

Broad Scope License: This license allows the use of commonly available radioisotopes in numerous applications. Most users of radioactive materials at SDSU are under this license.

Special Nuclear Material: This license allows the limited use of "specially produced," high activty radioisotopes. It is limited to Radiation Safety Office and Engineering/Physics Department personnel.
