Honors College


Honors College provides highly motivated students an opportunity to pursue a challenging and flexible course study as they work toward a degree in any major.


Why Join Honors College?

  • Work closely with faculty who are active in your academic and career choices.
  • Take smaller Honors and upper-level classes that are challenging and creative.
  • Live in the Honors Learning Community, which provides study rooms with state-of-the-art computers.
  • Participate in undergraduate research and create your own independent study project.
  • Receive guidance when seeking competitive national scholarships or fellowships for graduate or professional studies.




  • Getting In To Honors College

  • You don’t have to fill out any extra paperwork to be eligible for Honors College. If you have an ACT score of 27 or higher or rank in the top 10% of your class, you qualify.
  • After completing your first year, you must apply for continued enrollment and full admission to Honors College. There is no additional cost for being enrolled in the Honors College. You pay the same tuition and fees as other students.
  • Honors students are encouraged to enroll in at least one Honors course each semester and earn a 3.5 cumulative GPA to graduate with "Honors College Distinction".




  • Guidelines For Graduating With Honors College Distinction

  • Complete 15 credit hours of Honors general education coursework during your freshman and sophomore years. Choose from over 20 courses.
  • Complete 6 upper-division contracted Honors credit hours within your major during your junior and senior years.
  • Take part in an Honors colloquium (3 credits) during your junior or senior year. Study an important topic from a variety of perspectives.
  • Explore a topic of particular interest to you as a senior. The independent study enrollment (3 credits) includes a variety of learning experiences and an opportunity to work on a project independently.
